cool: The remains of fast-food shops have been found in ancient ruins! Even ancient Greeks enjoyed take-out. The only thing that is new is the mass production, standard menus and recipes of fast-food "chains." Wow!
awesome: Ice Cream Is Chinese Food!
When the famous explorer Marco Polo returned to his homeland of Italy, from China in 1295, he brought back a recipe (among other things). The recipe, was a Chinese recipe for a desert called "Milk Ice." However, Europeans substituted cream for the milk, and voila..."Ice Cream." Ice cream has been a hit ever since!
did you know: During a lifetime the average person eats about 35 tonnes of food
survey in US: about 34% of people said they were a "chicken and broccoli type;" 12% "brown rice and vegetables type;" and 10% "pasta and salad type." Only 35% said they were "meat and potatoes type." Five percent were "burgers and fries type," while 3% were "pizza and soda type.
If you add the brown rice and vegetables people with the pasta and salad folks, about 22% would actually be looking for vegetarian items. This is close to the 20% figure in The National Restaurant Association Poll. If you note that only 35% were meat and potatoes people, no wonder food companies are adding so many new "light" options."
